Las Vegas, NV (USA) – In the UFC® light heavyweight division, the most talent-rich weight class in all of mixed martial arts, every bout is a Super Fight. This will never be more evident than on Saturday, May 23rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, when champion “Sugar” Rashad Evans defends his crown for the first time against fellow unbeaten Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida in the main event of UFC 98, which is presented by Tequila CAZADORES.
“With 32 wins and no losses between them, this may end up being one of the most memorable UFC title fights of all time,” said UFC President Dana White. “Neither guy has learned how to lose yet, and I’m interested to see if Rashad is the first fighter to figure out Machida’s style, as well as if Machida can withstand the striking power and wrestling of Rashad. The winner of this one is truly the best 205 pounder on the planet.”

B.J. Penn has followed up his request for a review of his UFC 94 loss to Canadian Georges St. Pierre with a formal complaint to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, asking that the result of the mixed martial arts title fight be nullified.
The lightweight champion from Hawaii is arguing that St. Pierre, a Saint-Isidore, Que., native who holds the welterweight title, was illegally greased during the champion versus champion fight Jan. 31 in Las Vegas and as such had an unfair advantage.

Every now and again, it's a good thing for an employee to have their usefulness defined by those that employ them. In my case, when I ran into Free Press editor Margo Goodhand at the Manitoba Athlete of the Year dinner less than a month ago, she reinforced what my sports editors have been trying to hammer home with me for years. As a weekly columnist who moonlights as a professional athlete, my job here is to provide the readership with content that stems from my unique perspective as an entertainer in the wide world of sports.
Strategy in Fighting

Fighting is a game of strategy, and that is something that is often forgotten.
When I first started there really wasn't any actual instruction on how to spar, there was techniques, a few drills, pointers along the way, but never did anyone really try to look at fighting as a subject that needed detailed instruction. Techniques where fine tuned, combinations learnt, and patterns drilled. But fighting was still something largely learnt through trial and error.
